Wak'a is a Quechua concept that refers to objects, places, or people where supernatural forces of the earth, of the Pachamama, are expressed, embodying the sacred. It is interesting that its mythical source indicates a duplication of matter, the one of the founding ancestors who, upon their death, transformed into sacred stones. I sense that some of this involves making photography... I am interested in this word also because it represents the way in which I have been working in recent years with regard to territory, responding to a subtle call, and because it alludes to a geographic location within the planet, to my mestizo identity and background, and that of my culture.
